A person died from rabies after being bitten by a rabid bat in Marion

In the Breitenbush area of Marion county, a person is bitten by a rabid bat and died.

After that public official warns residents to be careful. Although the exact position is not known where the person is bitten by a bat.

The victims captured the bat and bought it to the health department. After that bat was sent to Oregon State University for further testing and found that bat was infected with rabies.

Health Officials warn the residents, no one should approach bats, a wild animal or any other mammal flopping around or acting unusual

If the bat bite or scratch, in that, try to capture the bat without destroying head for testing. This year three other bats are also found rabies positive.

Rabies is a viral disease which directly affects the central nervous system. Rabies is fatal once symptoms start to appear and mainly occurs due to exposure to a rabid animal.

 According to the Oregon Health Authority , bats are the most common carrier of transmission of rabies in Oregon. 8-10 % of bats found rabies positive in Oregon.
